Patrick Pollei

I can sit for hours and look at impressionist paintings from artists like Monet, Renoir, Sorolla and Bonnard. I own many books of their art and visit every impressionist exhibit I can even if it’s hours away. Their paintings of ‘everyday life’ with vibrant, expressive color and loose brushwork – gives me joy. They lift my soul. I’ve heard they’re called ‘genre’ paintings – captured, simple, moments of modern life. Paintings may include landscapes, still life, or, people doing ordinary things like grilling in the backyard. These are the subjects I’m drawn to paint.
