Gail Hocquard’s artist biography, 2022. There are so many things in life that I am passionate about, and many find there way into my art. Born on the East coast of Canada, surrounded by water, instilled a peaceful appreciation for creation. Travelling the world, especially Italy and France, and attending different art workshops, has given me inspiration and urges me to be a better artist. Painting offers me a respite from everyday life, it gives me a challenge to learn, and a deep sense of peace and calmness. My style is contemporary. I enjoy painting landscapes, seascapes, buildings, and the uses of bright colours. Oil is my preferred medium, but I enjoy being challenged by watercolour. I have worked in unrelating fields in the past, and I’m just getting brave enough to share my paintings during this phase of my life. Since 2010 I have participated in many local exhibitions. I enjoy simple things: bright flowers, gardens, Fall foliage, and the creation of our “Creator,” all of these inspire my hand to paint what I feel in my heart, and it gives me a sense of peace and calmness.
